🔴 NEW DIRECTION Ed. No. 3 / SYDNEY LOOKS SILLY
GROUND CONTROL TO MAJOR TOM
(ON FLYING TODAY)
SYDNEY LOOKS SILLY
We seem to be at a very frustrating impasse.
Is anyone listening or for that matter is anyone speaking anymore?
Are our busy heads addling the problem by not allowing us to see and hear what we need to?
… There is a lot of need in our world in these times. The greatest need though is learning how we can be more self sufficient in a balanced way in a world beset by anxious need.
Humanity presently is all over the place.
Unless we have a strong understanding of ourselves we will end up going nowhere even backwards. This need to understand ourselves is something that is not on the table of our priorities at the moment. Truth is it’s not even anywhere near the table. It’s something we just don’t want to, or even see a need, to address.
You can bet that most think they know themselves. You reckon?
If so many know themselves then why does the world look like it is heading to hell in a hand basket? Why are so many so unhappy? Why is so much not working as it should? Humanity presently is a facade of happiness. Something akin to Vegemite spread thin over unbuttered dry toast.
Recently I travelled to New Zealand. I’m using the front door to Australia here as a valid example to illustrate a point. The people overseeing Sydney Airport are part of a locational culture that needs a complete re-addressing. I am not going to waste my time detailing all of the matters that need attention. That is the collective staffs job at that location. They are ultimately responsible for running Sydney Airport. THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE. What I will say is that this is a place that is so economically rationalised, so ad hoc, fragmented and half measured that it could be described as a blind obstacle course of human failure. Are the administrators kidding or what?
How many barriers need to be put in our way to satisfy all of the demands? The poor staff while wearing their veneer masks of ‘niceness’ have to put up with the most God awful working conditions and the customer might just as well be regarded as processed cuts of sliced and diced rump steak. Sydney Airport is a meat processing factory showcasing a false efficiency.
It is a concentration camp for those seeking more and getting less. The profit hungry need to be sent to prison for crimes against humanity. How needy and greedy can we get?
A lady from America sidled “I’ve travelled around the world and it has been perfect but this is not good”. The point I’m making here is that we’re creating a world that rather than bringing us closer together is putting more barriers in our way leading to the removal of dignity and mutual respect. Ultimately towards a lack of self respect. We need to change ourselves and that means changing our values.
Self examination should be No. 1 in the matters needing our attention.
This is the NEW DIRECTION being addressed and explored here.
If we don’t sort out ourselves then we have no future.
And truly the front door to Australia isn’t Sydney Airport it’s yoo!
PIC: This was what was described and paid for as “The Works”* on one airline and what I ended up with when my flight was cancelled and I was transferred to another airline. Then I was left to wonder how do I sort this out?
What is fair? ...Well that’s up to you buddy in this brave new careless world we’ve created. I reflected later that the fact I even got another flight in what we've made to be a masterly deceptive world was something to be grateful for… but it's still all not acceptable.
*In the advertising industry this is called “puffery”.
This country is on a path towards not being able to organise either a Sunday school picnic or a chook raffle. Presently things are a dog’s breakfast, insulting, demeaning, abhorrent even becoming uncivil.
I mean who’d want to work in the aviation industry at present?
Nothing to engender pride in your working situation. The economics of it all are not working in a balanced way.
Most everything that could go wrong did on the trip from Sydney to Wellington. The surface niceties are starting to wear very thin. But then we all want what we see as our rights and entitlements don’t we? See it for what it is these are privileges now compromised by our want for more. We’re dumbing ourselves down to a point where mediocrity is the accepted norm.
And the flight from Sydney to Wellington reminded me in no uncertain terms why I have never missed having children. Talk about screamers. I will say though that the NZ family did apologise to the suffering for the screamin’ banshee.
Time to sort-it-all-out.
We can’t have our cake, eat it too and then eye off someone else’s with a view to a kill.
As much as we’d like to have it all we can’t. Those wanton days have gone.
PS I could have just as easily used as an example here the insular narrow “in” geek minded (rather than customer minded) IT industry, kamikaze bike riders on the footpaths, the self defeating concept of War, the ridiculously strained professional peer group challenged health industry, the climate change not so merry-go-round, what’s behind domestic violence? or how many other strands of our long overdue for an enema world society?…but I just happened to catch a plane at Sydney Airport which is as good an example as anything else.
That second Sydney Airport is so now overdue…do we really need to ask..."Why?" - NW
