Dear Editor,
HOW TO GIVE PEOPLE HOPE?
There does seem to be a grand tragedy unfolding across our world where the thing we need i.e. “hope” seems to becoming lost in all the busyness of a noisy ego-centric self opinionated world. (Nick Cater “A new era of welfare dependency drains nation’s aspiration” Australian June 16, 2026)
I read conservative commentators and the gist of their solution seems to come down to playing with (profiteering) numbers and ultimately big sticks. And yes too entrenched welfare certainly does remove a persons self worth.
Throwing money at human problems is only a part solution.
Mixed into this is a larger view that people of differing political, social, sexual, cultural, environmental and religious persuasions seem ever more stubbornly determined not to work together to heal a weary world’s woes.
(We want to hold onto our known reality as being the only or best "right" way.)
Dysfunction is starting to become the norm.
This needs application towards redress.
Pulling and tugging against each other achieves nothing except make us all the more worn down.
We now live in a world of sweeping “disconnection”.
Disconnection from our larger world environment, each other but most of all disconnection from ourselves.
Don’t we need an educational programme that encourages us to learn to understand
how to clean up our own backyards?
That is one hugely challenging educational programme.
Isn’t that where our collective focus needs to be?
If we don’t know and love ourselves individually there is no hope for humanity
ever digging ourselves out of the hole we have manufactured for ourselves.
Change for the better is very hard but change for the worse is much much harder.
Essentially we have to know how to give ourselves hope.
We all need to learn to dig deeper.

Dear Editor,
A PACK OF CLOWNS
DYSFUNCTION REIGNS SUPREME.
(“Strategy of the rebellion” The Australian [Referring to Pauline Hanson’s Game Plan] 17 June Front page)
Time to take a good hard look at ourselves. But we’re all too much doing everything we can to distract ourselves from facing, well, any truth in our lives.
Any reasoned or reasonable commentary is falling on the ears of the deaf presently.
But it’s only a matter of time before the fantasy bubble bursts and brings us all down to earth.
To learn we firstly need to learn how to listen and be able to identify those who truly have something to offer.
What a pack of clowns we are allowing ourselves to become.
Games within games are making us even dizzier and completely foolish.
Regards, - N.
