From: Neville Williams <n.b.williams@optusnet.com.au>Subject: IT'S GOOD NEWS WEEK. IT'S JUST THAT WE'VE GOT TO CREATE IT.Date: 15 May 2024 at 2:32:24 pm AESTTo: Opinion Editor THE SYDNEY MORNING HERALD <smhopinion@smh.com.au>Dear Opinion Editor,Looking around our world of present makes a person feel that we are addicted to seeing the bad in everything. Is there too much a troublesome focus on the destructive rather than a creative direction? Is it unreasonable to suggest that if we want to hear good news then we have to create it ourselves?Optimism just like bad news can be infectious too. We're not doing a very good job at the “optimism” thing at present. We've been conditioned to think in certain ways that seem to have us contrarily walking around in circles in a parched desert of our own making.*Recent research reveals that us punters describe Anthony Albanese (amongst other things) as being our choice to "host a party".All good. Why not make it a World Party with a stated aim or purpose being to reclaim our global and individual humanity? That'd be ongoing positive news and no small challenge for us all for a goodly number of years.I question whether we're forgetting or have forgotten how to be "human beings"? Presently you’d be forgiven for thinking that we couldn't organise a chook raffle. Being proved wrong would be welcome. To expect one leader to make it all happen though is being unrealistic. We need to see the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. It all has something to do with shared responsibility. All of this requires focus and energy, a co-operation and sometimes even a collusion between individuals and organisations to create such.Surprises can be wonderful things if the motivation is to give something.Contrary to all of the current indicators the world really is a wonderful place. It's just that we need to get on board the right train to see it and make the positive happen.A re-visioning of our world is underway already.Nature is doing it without any help from us.It'd be good if our better natures could consciously help make the steps towards a better world understandable, perhaps even enjoyable, rather than feeling like change by a thousand cuts.Kind regards,Neville Williams is a Sydney Artist*It was noted with a smile that according to recent research the Sunday Telegraph of 12 May 2024 says...
"We'd drink with PM but he can't organise a party”(The Telegraph is alluding to the Labor Party).🔴From: NEVILLE WILLIAMSSubject: ‘ “WINTER OF OUR” - DISCONNECT’Date: 9 May 2024 at 10:10:42 am AESTTo: The Editor THE SYDNEY MORNING HERALD
Dear Editor,‘ “WINTER OF OUR” - DISCONNECT ’
Just purchased a copy of the Herald for the first time in a long time.Page after page of the same disappointing human pap of misery. What’s the point of commenting?People have stopped listening just as they have also stopped speaking. Now where’s a nice place to go, stay and enjoy while we pass through the ‘“Winter of our”- disconnect.’?Regards, Neville Williams
