ON A NEW DIRECTION

AN INVITATION TO LET THE SUNSHINE IN

In my previous blog I put a suggestion forward that it might be time for the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras to become the Sydney Mardi Gras?

It’d be a surprise if the suggestion hasn’t been put forward before.

Perhaps it is timely to look at it again?

Sure Mardi Gras already invites the participation of the wider Community but the embracing of the larger community and them us is just that important for collective well being and as a signal for our whole world.

Maybe we should be making a big deal about this because it is a big deal.

Can it be repeated again… Does the (+) in GLBTQIA+ mean embracing all those friendly towards diversity and inclusivity in life? Perhaps it is timely that this theme be embraced as a central theme for the progress of our world society?

The focus shouldn’t be on trying to remove the dark.

That’s a waste of important creative energy.

The focus needs to be on adding the light.

As a friend said recently following a visit to the new QTOPIA (Centre for Queer History & Culture, Taylor Square Sydney) …

"Thank you for the rainbow ðŸŒˆ community who are leading the way to a creative future where we can recreate a world filled with joy remembering those who walked before us . . .

The tribute to the pioneers of what once was a quiet and shamed group to becoming a loud and proud community moved me Neville."

(Comment following a visit to QTOPIA)

Evie's observations above are spot on.

GLBTQIA+ people have been amongst the real leaders in our world since the 1970's (if not longer). Colour, style and original creativity are just some of this Community's positives. There is a mature sophistication that exists in this Community that has been earned over many year's of applied self enlightenment.

Does it have something to do with a developed conscious awareness of a balance between masculine and feminine? I don't know! What do yoo feel? - Neville
