GOING FOR GOLD, GOLD, GOLD

Being a paid up regular member of the Stanley St. Darlinghurst (Sydney) Cafe Society I casually picked up a copy of the Sunday Telegraph from the magazine stack at "Bill & Toni's" the other day.

Juxtaposed were two articles one by Piers Ackerman "Weak Albo has left nation so vulnerable" and the other by James Willis "Australian Defence Farce on full display" 

(Sunday Telegraph 14 July, 2024). Ho hum. 

When are we going to realise that unrelenting negativity cannot be indulged anymore? 

It's Australia (and the world) of yesterday, so passé. 

I mean why? What does knocking others achieve?

And I suppose it can be said that is what I am doing here too... knocking the knockers. 

I thought of responding to the Telegraph. They sometimes reprint my letters but they are not going to either listen to or reprint a critique of their shortcomings. You see they think that they know. We're touchy like that us human beings even if direct response is completely warranted, needed and justified.

So I'll just share my comments with YOO.

Now living in the Brave New World we need to be more mature and come together to be supportive of each other even if only in small ways. A word of encouragement even a positive suggestion can sometimes go a long way if you are actually speaking and the other is actually listening. 

Two provisos there.

To some people that is so from another planet only because they have let themselves become programmed in a certain way and for them there is no other way than to put down others to boost their own flagging sense of fractious self. Their whole thing is about looking after Numero Uno (No. 1). 

The paradoxical truth though is if you are not looking after yourself as Priority No. 1 then no one wants to know you. So which No. 1 are we talking about because there is duality within all of us. You feed the "bad wolf" then you become it. 

There may well be elements of truth in those two previously mentioned newspaper commentaries but the time for knocking is past.

Focussing negatively on the dark is the dark feeding the dark. It just breeds on itself. Irksome. 

We've got to find the courage in ourselves to feed the light. That requires a certain strength. Don't fool yourself that your anger, fear and confusion belongs to any universe other than the dark. Digging for the courage for peace and calm within is where the real rewards are buried. 

GOLD, GOLD, GOLD.

Just to change the subject to the 'Gold' how wonderful and appropriate 

that the world comes together every four years 

in the glorious light of a celebration of human talent and aiming for excellence. 

Looking forward to what Paris can showcase. 

The French usually do it all with passion, style and panache. 

It'll be anything other than passé.
