🔴  NEW DIRECTION   Ed. No. 19 / ON THE SUBJECT OF CONNECTION

PIC: UBER EATS POSTER ADVERTISEMENT William St., Sydney [DETAIL]

Is our advertising where a lot of the clever creativity has moved?

We need to make room for artists too!

I’ve had an experience recently with energy suppliers that may well serve as a most inconvenient portent of things to come for all of us.

I was left gasping with exasperation in a room at *St. Vincent’s Hospital Darlinghurst when my immediate recovery from a fairly important cardiac operation precisely interconnected with incompetence from the energy sector. Through the roof blood pressure was a dangerous thing to me at that particular moment.

I had just been made aware via email at the most inopportune time of unprofessional behaviour by elements within the energy sector impacting on my account and the energy supply to my home. This had nothing to do with bill payment. My bills are always paid on time. Are humans forgetting our sense of responsibility to others? More's to the point…

are humans forgetting our primary responsibility to ourselves?

And the bewildering thing is how something so simple as moving your Gas Account from one supplier to another can snowball into something so unnecessarily complex, incoherent and "off the planet Janet" wrong headed.

Is it apathy, incompetence, laziness, absent leadership, simmering long term resentments,

and as mentioned lack of shared and individual responsibility?

Probably all of the above and more.

I wonder if anyone is running the show anymore or whether we can now expect the unexpected from either the incompetent or those who feel disenfranchised by a system in totality that is no longer working PROPERLY.

Yes there’s working “in a way” and working “PROPERLY”.

Two different things.

Or perhaps it is that too much change addles people?

When did customer service warp into a sales priority?

Anyways you look at it people are not doing their jobs properly.

And I’m not only talking about energy providers I’m talking across the civilisation.

I wonder if we are too preoccupied with our own problems that we are becoming the problem? It can be said that we are both the root cause of our problems and the solution to those same problems.

But of one thing I'm certain amidst this lack of clarity… if we don’t take charge of our own undisciplined consciousnesses we will create one big mess (and then blame everyone else other than ourselves.)

If you are not happy within yourself then you are creating pain not only for yourself but by association with others. SEEK HELP. That involves a certain posture.

Trouble is created when we don’t know who we are. Too many don’t. Now I agree that is a presumptuous statement. But the signs are everywhere that we are lost but presently too arrogant within our own ego driven determination to get our own way to admit it … that is to the one who is the most important …ourselves.

Very very dangerous.

The rising costs of everything is a noteworthy example of our disconnectedness. This is driven by two things - fear (FOMO - fear omissing out post Covid) and greed. If we think that getting more of everything is the way to be happy (and most do) then we are in for a big disappointment.

I mean for example there are people out there who have in excess of 15 investment properties. That is being asleep at the wheel.

For too many, more is never enough. Less can be more.

And when schadenfreude enters us as valid behaviour then you should know you are in big trouble. And further, the civilisation is in big trouble. The lights are turning off.

We don't need a blackout.

If we don’t find humility within ourselves and bow to the sustainable balance of nature… well, you can use your own imagination.

Those who are unhappy in our world don’t need to be kicked up the arse.

They are doing it to themselves. Sadly though it all is projected onto others.

So will we be asking…”Where were you when the lights went out?”

💡

A re-education programme is needed.

We need ‘re-Connection’ on the table.

We are creating a disconnected society.

This is what can happen when we don’t know ourselves.

The war we are fighting is with our own ignorance of the self.

Where is our common sense, clarity, vision but most of all courage? - NW

THE ABOVE COMMENTARY WAS SUPPLIED TO THE OPINION EDITOR

OF THE AUSTRALIAN NEWSPAPER ON 29/06/2024.

'THE AUSTRALIAN' DOESN'T SEEM INTERESTED

SO I AM FORWARDING THIS COMMENTARY ON TO THE OPINION EDITOR

OF THE SYDNEY MORNING HERALD TODAY 03/07/2024.

MEDIA OUTLETS WON'T PRINT SOMETHING LIKE THIS BECAUSE IT IS TOO DIRECT

FOR WHAT OUR FANTASY DRIVEN SOCIETY CAN STOMACH.

HAPPINESS IS NOT AN ATTRIBUTE OF MATTER.

CONSCIOUSNESS COMES WITH THE COURAGE TO DIG FOR IT.

THAT IS THE HARDEST WORK A PERSON CAN POSSIBLY DO.
