Searching for Easy Street will just send your GPS whacky.

Recently someone said to me what a waste of money the Olympics are. I did a double take.

By the way the person in question loves the Olympics. This Celebration is indeed a grand presentation. I think we'll find though that by the time the Brisbane Olympics rolls round in 2032 they will be a more modest production.

But shouldn't there always be a healthy want to celebrate the best of what us humans have to offer? And that will always cost on many levels to do things properly. Mediocrity seems though to be on the creep...creepy.

And yes the distribution of wealth and funds across our world does need a reworking.
There is most certainly enormous disparity.

But the wealth is not the root of the problem. Human beings have an "attitude" problem.
Our programming has far too many with skewed values of entitlement, self righteous fervour and judgement of others. No matter how many tantrums we want to throw the bottom line is that Nature runs the show. A lot have a difficulty with that reality.

In fact some are tipping over into mentally ill health because they believe they are right and have no in built ability to even consider the possibility that they don't know themselves enough to see that they are out of balance.
The flexibility to adjust ourselves to reality and go with the flow is anathema for far too many.

What is so difficult about saying to ourselves that we don't know?

The internet is no substitute for human(e) connection

In train with what's just been talked about I had a curious experience with a young shop assistant the other day.

He has a strong connection with his religion and that in itself is fine.
If that teaching/conditioning is resulting in happiness then a person can only say go for it.
But when any set of values, beliefs, rules, guidelines or ideas stops a person from being happy then what's the alternative - The Gospel of St. Internet? That's like jumping from the frying pan into the fire. Some of these social media networks really do need having the plug pulled. Too much blather is stifling the human spirit. Over-information creates a block and a powderkeg of problems preventing the experience of the full potential for what life has to offer.

Truly, in front of me was an angry young man.
So much going on up top that he continued to look at his iPhone (read security blanket) while taking my order. He didn't hear because he wasn't listening. So disconnected within himself that he simply could not look up from that iPhone to make eye contact with another human being.

There was nil provocation here on my part.
He is angry at the world or life or whomever happens to be in the way of his going around in circles. And that is SAD.  Blaming the world for our own wrong choices along the way is really out there on a limb.

Is accepting the rudeness of what this world is spewing at us the way to go?
What happened to educated discernment?
Are we at risk of becoming two dimensional robotic taking machines counting our money methodically, our faces buried in iPhones or PC's with overheated heads chock full of information overload?

That is not living.

Do they know what they are dealing with?

While on the subject of being out of it recently I read an article in the Herald. ("Opposing mayoral hopefuls say 'it's over , Clover" Herald August 5)
It was about the young male risers in the Labor and Liberal parties taking on Clover Moore Lord Mayor of Sydney who is coming up for her sixth term.  Hey I'm all for youthful contribution and leadership. I've said as much in previous blogs.

But guys don't turn it into a gladiatorial contest to bring down the old guard. It looks like over-eager upstarts wanting to be noticed. The freshmen are dealing with wisdom and proven ability. The Lady has earned her stripes. Have some respect or is that too old fashioned for the hungry suited wannabes?
It all smacks of self serving behaviour.

Take a look at the maturity evolving most definitely in our GLBTQIA+ Community.
The political young guns might ask those queer leaders what it took to bring the Gay Community to where it is today? Wouldn't the answer be... plain bloody hard work? The need for that hasn't gone away. Searching for Easy Street will just send your GPS whacky.

If to quote that newspaper article "One of Clover Moore's superpowers is passing the buck" might it be because she has so many small thinkers and so much infantile behaviour to deal with on a daily basis? Looks like we need an education programme on the subject of taking responsibility for ourselves.

The young guns shouldn't wish too hard for what they want or they just might get it.
What they don't understand is that Clover has passion and love on her side... she knows herself.
A wise person once said "Understanding is standing under".  Sorry, but these guys would seem to be examples of that breed of humans who are full of all swaggering confidence but short of experience on the ground.

'Clever speak' will never cut it over 'truth'. Not in the long run. And yes the young have a contribution to make along with the established to move us forward.
It's called evolution.

Nature is making a correction at present.
We can either get on board together or be swept away in the foment.

A creative contribution is just that...
a contribution not some veiled attempt at getting one's own way or being noticed. Ultimately that's feeding the bad wolf with the result that you end up blaming the world (or your own good in self) for your own self induced predicament.

Knowing the difference between the light and the dark within inside of YOU is very pain preventative. - Neville  ☺︎

ADDENDUM
Just to reference content in the afore mentioned newspaper article
about "housing affordability". Money is not the problem.
Greed and 'FOMO - Fear of Missing Out' are the core problems.

The young gun major party political spruikers might tackle that issue in a re-education programme
if they are found electable by SydneyCitysiders at the next City voting.
Let's see what they are made of?

More Moore would never be enough to those with shallow and greedy values. The Lady looks to dig deeper.

Yep hard work is still important.
It hasn't gone out of fashion. Never will.
Hanging out to win the lottery is fools gold.

Sydney has become such a spoilt City!
And that has nothing to do with Clover Moore's steadfast contribution over the years.

FOOTNOTE:
Other creative priorities have my focus over coming weeks.

So my parting words of wisdom here for a short while are
"
Life is like a Lebanese mixed plate.
A little bit of tabouli, vine leaves, hummus, baba ghanouj, falafel, and olives
with some pita bread and a glass (or two) of vino balances it all out."
That does sound like something Forrest Gump would say.
