"Walk your own walk"

Recently I received via LINKEDIN a response to my blog

titled “Be brave. UNMASK”. (NEW DIRECTION Ed. No. 26)

The comment was…

“Expand on the idea of being brave - it takes courage to challenge norms and push boundaries. I love how the artwork 'Let the Sunshine in Pierrot' encourages us to stop, look and leap into a brighter future."

OK. So what do I mean “Be brave. UNMASK”?

Whether we realise it or not all of the world’s or humanity’s problems stem back to the reality that we all live in a carapace of our own making. You can also substitute the word “prison” there as well. Some call it living at the shallow end of the pool.

We collect an identity that at its most base form is a construct of who we believe ourselves to be. We start to see ourselves as all the impressions that are made upon us.

My parents gave me a name and it has stuck and so on it goes. We keep getting or accepting things that stick to us until rather than enhance us it can all eventually start to weigh us down.

Ideas, beliefs, dogmas, values, behaviours, prejudices, habits, labels, limitations the list goes on.

When we are born there is a complete openness. That’s why we like looking into the faces of babies. They are a mirror to the purity of life within us. But over time and with too many bad choices we start to disconnect from that spark of purity.

Along the journey of a life some make very good decisions and others make the lousiest decisions. (So for example is this article a good decision or a bad decision on my part?)

It may well be a bad decision made from a lack of wisdom! I am talking here about something foundational - our identity or sense of self. A very touchy subject for some.

It comes down to choices.  All I have to go by is what I feel or what I think and the trust I place in what I have learned about the self.

We’re all given a free will. More than some bog themselves down by listening to the wrong universe inside us. Do you want to listen to the circuitous repetitive babbling of your mind or do you want to rest in the calmness and clarity of your deeper self?

So when I talk about “unmasking” I’m talking here about bypassing all of that baggage that we’ve grown accustomed (even grown comfortable carrying) in the process of our life.

The world is in the mess it is because we are not listening to our deeper selves.

That is we are listening to YOU rather than the deepest YOO.

Too many are disconnected from themselves.

And we wonder why we get so hurt or experience pain.

That is our separation from our deeper selves…or our own lack of understanding about who we are.

In essence we are a drop of life. But we have taken ourselves so far away from that simplicity that we have created a lost world where people are bumping into each other trying to find the love, clarity, peace, happiness or whatever word you want to put on 'it'.

But simply put we are as one wise poet wrote “life’s longing for itself”.

We are so lost as a human race presently that we have even forgotten what we are looking for in everything we do, say or think. i.e. OURSELVES

And where are we racing to anyway?

So the bravery is having the courage, the humility, the strength, the capacity, the resilience, the tenacity perhaps even talent to listen and respond by making decisions from the deeper part of ourselves. But that “ego” self is just so prevalent and ingrained that we make it our “God”.

For some any challenge to their beliefs is complete and utter anathema. They are so attached to the limits of what they know they have filled any space to be open to learn.

That can be interpreted as a lack of courage. Even Joe Biden has asked more recently where is our spine?

Hey - and please let me say it - your path is your path. It has nothing to do with me or anyone else for that matter. I can only encourage you to walk your own walk. Your life is your business completely. Some would even take issue with that statement believing that it is our leaders responsibility to take care of us. Sorry that’s not the way I see it. We are TOTALLY responsible ultimately for ourselves. But some just love shifting the blame for their resulting pain.

Is it any wonder so many people are so lost and angry?

Living from your deeper self takes a s--t load of courage to rise above what we wholeheartedly and quite sincerely believe to be the truth in our lives.

Knowing yourself and the difference between the light and the dark within inside means confronting our ideas of self and that my friends requires - and I repeat because it’s worth repeating — a s--t load of courage.

The world will be a better place when we sincerely want to find ourselves.

That’s not even on the agenda for most presently. Not even near the table.

So the pain/ignorance continues unfortunately for us all. - Neville ☺︎
