DO WE EVER STOP TO REFLECT
THAT ALL THE DIS-HARMONY IN THE WORLD
IS CREATED IN AN UNFULFILLED SEARCHING,
A LONGING, A YEARNING FOR PEACE, HAPPINESS
AND LOVE IN OUR LIVES?
(But then do we ever stop? - Period.)

In essence all we are looking for in everything we do, say and think in our lives is a feeling of satisfaction.

All the wars, anger, fear and unhappiness is the result of our unsuccessful searching.

Lately we seem to be experiencing what appears to be an increase in unhappiness globally.

I’ve been noting a reference to “fighting” coming from so many different directions. If it’s not the Middle East, Russia/Ukraine, American politics or even our own adversarial style of petty politics in Australia “fighting” for what we want seems on the increase. When Adam Bandt the Australian Greens Party Leader got up to speak at the National Press Club recently he made more than one reference to “fighting” over one issue or another. And it was irksome that Alex Greenwich NSW Member for Sydney was forced into fighting in court for his reputation when another parliamentarian made disparaging remarks about Mr. Greenwich’s character. That whole process must have been totally exhausting. Mr. Greenwich’s considerable positive character could have been focussed towards other more creative endeavours.

A short while ago a statement was made by the CEO of Sydney Mardi Gras.

“…. 2025 MARDI GRAS THEME IS FREE TO BE.

Free To Be is a manifesto of what our community has desired and fought for dozens of decades, and the reason why we will continue to be here, fighting, celebrating and being fiercely visible for the generations to come,” said Gil Beckwith, CEO of Sydney Mardi Gras. “Our theme is about making a statement to embrace and rejoice in our unique individuality as well as our collective identity. It is about the bravery to rise for each other in the darkest of times and protect the progress we’ve made, using it as a springboard toward the progress we deserve.”

  • Gil Beckwith (Mardi Gras CEO, Email Circular 15 August, 2024)

There seems to be an awful lot of “fighting” or anticipation for a fight in our lives. Our world whether we want to face it or not is stretched to breaking. Tensions are high at a world level.

And I think this is a master trick of our collective minds.

The point I’m making is that we lay waste to ourselves fighting.

Why aren’t we solving our problems with love?

Would that be because we have lost ourselves in the very search for that most elusive of things….LOVE or a simple satisfaction in our lives.

Humanity is not only lost we’re completely entangled in ourselves.

(For a most horrible but apt metaphor watch the two part SBSTV documentary “CRUSH”.

Absolutely horrific. This is bad. I actually was moved to tears after watching this doco.)

We’re looking outside of ourselves for the answers.

Shouldn’t we be looking inside ourselves?

That is not even on the agenda at the moment. Nowhere even near the table.

Our mind can be soooo very distracting to us it actual takes us away from ourselves.

We’re so distracted that we can even rationalise black as being white and believe it as gospel truth.

We’re not going anywhere until we decide to do some of our own soul searching.

We need to change but think that it is someone or something else that needs to do the changing. Not until we are prepared to learn more about ourselves will the problems in our lives start to move away from us.

A SUGGESTED POINTER

The Gay Community has had to face much discrimination over the years and of all the sub groups in our society this group seems to have achieved much in the way of progress by celebrating itself. The Light shines. It is the Gay Community who are amongst the leaders in our world today. I wonder if the GLBTQIA+ Community would embrace the larger world by shining its light on a bigger picture vision?

Maybe I’m just being a “dreamer”?

An idealistic artist.

But, would a “Sunshine Statement” pointing us forward help?

        Something that contains…

…a message of hope.

…a commitment to a direction.

…the need for acceptance individually of more personal responsibility.

I am no spokesperson for the GLBTQIA+.

This Community has more than ably demonstrated that it can speak for itself.

No harm though in presenting some observations and ideas…is there?

While acknowledging my “gayness” in the same way that I am an artist who happens to have had red hair I’ll always though firstly and foremost identify as being a human being.

Have too many forgotten our own humanity?

We want our leaders to make things right but YOO are the leader of your own life.

That’s where it needs to start. The key to our collective future is us each taking greater responsibility - taking on the greatest challenge - of our own lives.

But it’s so much easier to blame, expect or imagine that someone else is responsible for our own self fulfilment (or lack thereof).

When we can each love our own selves better we’ll be making progress as a humanity.

Until then we are lost in our own “in-fighting” searching for that very thing - self love.

Can you say that you truly love YOO- Neville ☺︎

CLARIFICATION

______________________________________

Re-reading my blog dated 17 Oct. I feel that what I said needs clarification.

There’s nothing wrong with following our passions just as long as the motivation/direction is coming from our own hearts. Much of what is happening in our world today seems motivated by a construct within humans of what they “think” they want or need.

We are being waylaid or distracted from the main game.

I can’t see the point or even sense in putting my life energy into endeavours where the attitudes and behaviours are being fuelled by those who have made their head the Master of their own destiny rather than their own hearts.

The result ends up being pointless for all. Futile even.

At worst self destructive.

So many are so ‘disconnected’ from themselves that a question is raised… Do humans even deserve to experience happiness in their lives? American values/wants/needs have them placed in just such a precarious position at present. Only they can sort themselves out.

I can never quite understand why so many strut around with an attitude that life owes them something. Life owes us nothing. We owe it. It has already given us an opportunity to live. But how many grasp the opportunity and run with it learning self awareness in the process.

It’s all a gift whereas too many have tricked themselves into seeing otherwise.

It is the very ‘disconnection’ from ourselves that causes so much pain in our world.

It’s nature’s way of telling us we’re lost. - Neville ☺︎
