In the great watershed that is currently in progress we have two choices.
Holding on or letting go.
Over the years we have amassed a whole lot of “stuff” in our lives and much of that has become who we are. We are like magnets attracting all and sundry.
All the experiences and impacts made upon us, the beliefs and values, occupations, family influences, ideologies, fantasies, desires and wishes, what we choose to wear and eat and act out on this planet reflect us to our world. So much of this is externally added in the first place?
Just one single belief alone that many people have become conditioned to is the idea that more of everything will make us happy. It’s a furphy but many believe it as God’s own truth. Sure we live in a material world and we need a certain amount but the expectation that more of anything is going to give us the happiness we seek in life is just not where it’s at.
I don’t expect here to change that belief that is set in stone in the majority who live a treadmill of habit. Believe it if you want…but it’s not going to deliver the goods we’re after…a deep solace of inner peace.
And 'more is better' is just one fantasy that people carry with them as baggage.
We’re carrying a lot of baggage and those things that are holding us back from enjoying ourselves and our lives is what is under challenge presently in our world both externally and internally.
The pain that is hanging so heavily in the air presently is the fight that is going on within inside our world citizenry to either hold on or let go and move forward towards a “freer” outlook of living. We’re prisoners to differing extents of our own programmed thinking.
Some Most people would much rather hold on with white knuckle fear to the limitations of what they know as their reality rather than find the courage to enter unchartered waters. And knowing myself in a way I don’t blame them. I’m just as guilty as the next person of this shortcoming. It’s a scary world now or so it seems with so much uncertainty. We are treading warily.
It is painful to admit that it scares the shite out of me to watch my 92 year old Mother whom I love so dearly and did after me unrelentingly all her life gradually fall prey to the insidious disintegration of Dementia.
Learning to let go and surrender and accept what I cannot change is just so difficult. It is a different sort of pain. The grief is at times heartbreaking. But I cannot change it and can only do what I can do.
Dementia is one of those discussion platforms to explore the question of "Who we are in essence anyway?" When everything gets taken away who or what are we? (A topic for another time)
Nature rules us all and sooner or later we’re all going to have to catch the bus to wherever the next level takes us? That in fact is another of those things we seem to ignore carrying on with a “laissez faire” attitude as if we are going to live forever.
We’re about as significant as a mosquito with a millisecond of existence time in the greater picture of things but you’d want to reckon that we are all conquering heroes of our own mortality the way we strut around the planet taking out our wants, needs, rage, fear, jealousies and what ever other garbage our minds like to spew out - completely lost banging into others going round in circles.
Humanity it seems has become just a little bit too blasΓ©, non-contrite, entitled…disconnected. We are lost in our own tiny little worlds of self importance not even raising a finger to want to know anything more than getting what we want, when we want it, how we want it. The product of our own imagined reality. That’s both the fantasy and fact illustrated in “THE MATRIX” trilogy of films. The blue pill or the red pill?
We’ve come to treat life with such disregard that it is just what this separation shake up post Covid is doing i.e. reminding us of our own humanity. We don’t seem to want to acknowledge our own self regard as the priority respecting life…so nature springs into action to remind us.
A re-jig is in process. Find the courage to let go and take a step forward.
I wonder if it needs to be as painful as we make it? - Neville ☺︎
Allow me an observation please.
There’s no need to wait for those around you to apply the accelerator of an increasingly expectant and demanding status quo. We impinge ourselves unconscionably, unquestionably and unbearably so (with a big stick attached). Our redundant intransigent way of life globally should have been jettisoned years ago but it takes the impetus of a global pandemic to shake things up. Agreed that it is very discomforting but like it or not it is upon us. So are you falling or flying amidst all of the distracting noise?
Vision? Ha! We can’t even see past our next pay packet.
Just remember we did this to ourselves. So who (or what) is running your Show?
What is your vision for YOO?
