Dear Editor,

THE TIMES THEY ARE A CHANGIN’

Each evening we see the NSW Premier and his Transport Minister and Transport Union leaders fronting the television cameras. All present as reasonable people and I’ve no doubt that they are.

I do have doubts though about the bureaucracies behind these leaders. We have a union movement that should be declared redundant making outrageous pay claims in a world heading towards a necessarily sustainable future. And the tortuous layering of government systems that are locked in blinkered thinking that wouldn’t know the meaning of an wholistic balanced vision forward if they fell over one.

I mean put yourself in the position of train drivers (according to what I read) on salaries of $120,000 a year facing down a reality that, in say 5 years time, of being phased out by driverless trains as excellently exampled by the new Metro Line. Where’s their future?

In the brave new world we’re creating that’s completely up to them. Though in a more humane forward thinking society our governments would have a helpful wholistic plan in place to ease the blow of change.

We can all do better it just requires a tweaking of our outlook and values. Something which our ‘set in yesterday’ thinking is doing everything to prevent.

Regards, Neville Williams

“But we’re never gonna survive, unless
We get a little crazy.” - (Crazy) Seal

This song has been going round in my head lately and is apt for the times with the message these lines carry.

If we don’t get shaken awake then how are we going to save ourselves from, well, ourselves? Perhaps this explains much of the upset people are going through presently worldwide(?)

There’s quite a bit of mental disturbance floating around at recent.

It just isn’t all working is it?

From each time consistently trying three times to get booked rubbish removed by the City Council, to too many of our systems in crisis, transport workers holding us to ransom with exhorbitant claims, public mental health professionals threatening a walk out, climate change impacts on Los Angeles, to the fact that Manboys are running some of the most powerful nations and organisations in the world. I mean HOW COME?

There’s any number of other stupidities that could be cited here.

Politically this seemingly exponentially increasing craziness is going to all be a test.
I mean anyone who goes into politics must love mess.

And I wonder if the present culture/values of politics is adding fuel to the fire? Motivations for political gain, pleasing vested interests or a lack of directness are not being respected by the electorate. Pollies need to say what needs to be said rather than what they think we want to hear. Ultimately for their own self respect. I mean we all are responsible ultimately but I wonder whether we’ve had enough and are starting to twig to all the game playing and subterfuge that goes on at the pointy end?
And true the games go on at the community level too. Just as destructive.

Let's stand back for a moment and I'll give you a big picture view of where we are heading based on the current trajectory...

- People will start to wake up through their own pain to understand that politicians (alone) cannot make it better for us.

- Both major Australian political parties will cease to exist within 10 years. Independents and individuals like the Teals will form collective groups to run the country without serving vested interests or short term agendas.

- Manboys will be sent to the dustbin of history not before though making a real tantrum of it that we are all going to have to clean up. But we do so want someone else to do it all for us.

- China will be the dominating force in the World and America will like other great frameworks before fall into decline - as they are already doing. Doesn't it distill down here to nothing more than a cycle of history repeating itself? Rising to fall and then rising again.
As is the case now with China.

- Our corporates will take on a far greater leadership role in making wholistic solutions to heal our world. Unions will write themselves into redundancy simply because their claims are becoming fantasy that is not sustainable.

So what’s the beach got to do with all of this?

Well, we do so like our leisure here in Australia. In fact I’m suggesting that our iconic idea of beach be the main stage to express ‘who we are’ for the Australian Representation at the Sydney World Expo I’m proposing. The beach is a stage like no other with a backdrop like no other. [To read the synopsis of the beach artwork shown above go to:- NevilleWilliamsArt.]

While we're laying on the beach letting the Sun fry our brains we will be 'tsunami'ed' by those who know what they want and where they are going. There’s history there.

We need to rebalance the ideas of work and leisure within a sustainable wholistic vision to move us forward. Most people realise that we need to move towards sustainable living practices but the problem is we don’t know how to do it?

We need to showcase a planned vision or pointer forward that we understand and we need to get on board and work towards making it happen. - Neville ☺︎
