TOO MUCH FOCUS ON THEM RATHER THAN US
Do we place too much attention on our leader figures and not enough where the focus should be…on OURSELVES?
If as the saying goes "we get the leaders we deserve" then what does that say about us?
Leaders today are yet another distraction from taking the time to dig deeper within ourselves, self reflect and accept more individual responsibility.
And too, people are struggling at the moment with this new age of self responsibility.
Some are dealing with it. A lot are not.
Isn’t it that our leaders have become both a megaphone and whipping posts for our own discontent with life? We project our unrealistic expectations onto our leaders to solve what are really intransigent problems. When they fail we then blame them rather than look at ourselves. All sounds a bit weak. Have we all too often gladly given away our power to these people and chosen to become spineless?
It’d probably be the case that leaders take our criticism’s of them in their stride. The genus has evolved over generations to develop thick skins. My guess is that frankly my dear they don't give a damn what you think about anything. Too many (and not unique to leaders) think they know but don't even know how to listen to those who are actually speaking truth.
Some like the current Presidents of Russia and America would actually thrive on being the centre of attention pontificating their abuses of confidence. All of the focus of wealth, power and celebrity gives them the validity (in their own ego based doings) we all seek in our own varied ways in life. But they're still not happy.
Currently we are setting ourselves up for some huge disappointments.
Politicians cannot legislate for happiness. It is not within their framework of power.
The real leaders today have the mettle to make it clear with no uncertainty that while they can play with policies, laws, projects and budgets making a better world is a very real shared responsibility needing the greater whole to participate with fair spirit. That comment really does sound naive in this grossly selfish world we have created. But without this glue we will fail as a Civil-isation yet again. It's almost cyclical.
We know that already deep down but just don't want to accept it. Easier to blame someone else when things go pear shaped. Real leaders have the guts to say what we don’t want to hear before we board our own human train wreck. We should listen and perhaps even act on the wisdom of those who speak the unguilded truth.
How much more complicated can we make our way of life? This complexity is all about holding onto our fiefdoms of belief and ideas, fears and greeds and not being fair with others and ultimately ourselves.
Expecting our leaders to solve our problems for us is living in a fools paradise.
We have not been paying attention for so long now that the chickens are coming home to roost overwhelmingly so. All too discomforting for so many.
FOOTNOTE
It would be revealing to write an evaluation of the largest and loudest Nations comparing the reflections of their leaders traits in their own peoples but any synopsis would offend too many. Far too many have devalued the importance of human life. That’s because they don’t understand their own value.
We talk all too much about “they” and “them”. Do we realise that we are the “boogeymen or women” to plenty of others souring view of their own manufactured world.
It’s been said before… when you are pointing your finger at someone else you have three pointing back at you. A little humility goes a long way.
There’s plenty of room for improvement amongst the citizenry and leaders of this planet.
I'm not exempt either. There are no exceptions. - Neville ☺︎
