Dear Editor,

MATURE NATIONS MAKE THEIR OWN FUTURE

Following my letter to the Herald Letters Editor yesterday may I add that mature nations make their own future.

I’m reminded of a line from the Gillian Armstrong Australian feature film “Starstruck” (1982). It goes like this…

"Know what happens if you don’t take a risk? NOTHING”.

But I believe that something does happen when you don’t take a risk.

Someone else makes the decision for you.

And in allowing that to happen we give away our own independence. We don’t grow.

Kind regards,

Neville Williams

Dear Editor,

CELEBRATE LIFE!

Perhaps I am naive or gullible or guileless. Whatever!  But reading Peter Hartcher’s article (" 'Adolescent' nation coming of age" Sydney Morning Herald 19 July) made me wonder about the need for Australia doing more than making trade and talking about being buddies with China.

Sure talking is an important part of the process of making connection but there’s got to be more commitment from both parties. Sadly with the human condition we all have a built in shadow that manufactures fear and anger and mistrust. Perhaps it is timely to make some real, genuine and practical action towards strengthening our connections. I mean we are all live human beings. Isn’t that worth celebrating?

This celebration should not only be with China it should be with all our neighbours and beyond.

We are living in a world deeply distracted presently by our own collective individual separation from ourselves.

Isn’t it time for some reconnection with our world environment, each other but most importantly with ourselves?

It is our distraction from what is truly important in us that is creating our own need to be more self aware.

We do like a good party in Australia.
Something original and highly creative please.
We need to push our way though the doldrums and Celebrate life! It’s important.

Kind regards,

Neville Williams

A MESSAGE XI JINPING

The photo featured above here came annotated with your warning
to your own Communist Party members
as being "a source of the Party's weakness".

Doesn't that same wisdom apply across our entire humanity?
We are all our own worst enemy as well as being all our own best friend.

I am not kowtowing here.
This is just the plain truth.

We need to move forward as a world population.
What is fair?
Can yoo, China and your Party come to our Party in goodwill?
...That is if we were to get our act together too here in Australia!  - Neville ☺︎

PS I'm not going to save our world.
We all are going to change our world by changing ourselves. - N.
