Dear Editor,

READ THE WARNING SIGNS OF A TSUNAMI

In response to your editorial headline “Why weren’t concerns over Bondi heeded?” (Herald Dec. 27) the answer is we don’t want to hear the truths let alone do anything about it*.

And that relates to Bondi or any other issue.

That is why human civilisation is in decline.

Even that previous sentence we want to push away while pointing a finger at the messenger.
No, I’m actually quite a positive person. I just like keeping the company of the truth. It keeps you clear and aware of what actually is going on around you (and inside as well).

It’s all hard work to change our stubborn mindsets. We’d rather settle for an ocean of mediocrity and then express our outrage at others when a tsunami such as Bondi or any other ground clearing storm occurs.

When are we going to wake up to the realisation that it is homework time for us all? No exceptions.

How bad does it need to get?

Kind regards, Neville Williams

FOOTNOTE:
* It also must be acknowledged that our authorities have a limit to their capacities and resources. They're just not able to police every potential battle station.

Also, our world won't let a comment like that expressed above be reprinted in the Media particularly in the current milieu. We are being made to look at ourselves and face hard truths. This is tipping us out of our comfort zone.

We simply do not want to hear any bad news.  And that's understandable to a degree.
I repeat here that the first step to solving a problem is to face up to the fact that we have a problem. Us.

What has been said here is unpalatable to most human beings. It doesn't leave a good taste in our mouths. Here's another truth. We are going to need to sugar coat the medicine pill we are required to swallow for that very reason.

And then it's true too that too much sugar can make us sick. All such a conundrum. Jeez the balance is so difficult to get just right. But we have to make the journey to our better world bearable at the least.

Of course we could choose the ego driven "I know better" course but it comes with a caution of pain, more pain and even more pain.

We all need to move to higher ground. Neville
