IT IS UNCOMFORTABLE TO SAY
BUT WE'VE GOT TO START SHARING
THE RESPONSIBILITY

In a paradoxically weird kind of way I sort of feel a bit sorry for Donald Trump.
Though he wanted the top job and got it.
And ultimately in the long run he'll wear societal blame for what goes wrong.
That's the way human beings historically deal with things. We blame the leaders.
Or at least that seems to be the set in stone default for the way humanity travels in cycles.

The responsibility for Mr. Trump being where he is comes down to the majority of Americans who chose to bother to vote and those too lazy to get off their entitled, disengaged or disillusioned backsides as well and accept their citizen's responsibility to participate.

Or perhaps the responsibility can be apportioned even wider than Americans!

Human beings across the world spectrum have been gradually disconnecting from their own foundations now over generations. To explain that statement would take a book.
In short living inside the shadow of our mind rather than the light of day within our own heart separates us from ourselves. Who is your Master - Head or Heart?

That disconnection or abrogation of personal responsibility over time manifests in a myriad of dysfunctional ways leading to societal breakdown and eventually civilisational failure.

Sir Isaac Newton's third law of motion is drawn straight from the behaviour of Nature.
"For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction."
I suppose it would be true to also say that for every inaction there is an equal and opposite action. It all balances itself out.

Just lately I'm seeing in microcosm in my own local backyard the rebirth of a 'Weimar Republic' mentality.

Now I don't want to go into turgid details here because it is all too close to home.
This is the problem. Everything becomes knotted in action/reaction, inaction/reaction developing then into hyperbole and so complexity and confusion.
And the masculine energy is so easy to put out of kilter. Touchy, touchy, touchy.
All leading to explosions of destructive ignorance.

But if we can't enact in ourselves the preparedness to take responsibility for the care of our own personal rubbish (that is the grot that we have generated ourselves) then what hope is there for dealing with any of the other major worldly challenges now on our full to brimming plates?

We give away the power to individuals who are prepared to use it in their own way, to confront what we refuse to redress within ourselves. Our shadow imprisons us in a kind of dysfunctional despair.
We become so blind that we can no longer see the truth in any situation.
The result...well just look at history.

It is the likes of those individuals thrown up into the manufactured vacuum vacated by humans own lack of personal responsibility that leads to a most painful reckoning of all the ignorance and imbalance.

As much as it is anathema for us to look into our own mirrors crunch time is upon us.

The only healing way is to find the love within ourselves. That is just plain hard work.

Our vacuous Fantasylands are bursting around us for lack of substance. America is not solely to blame...we all are.

Time to get back to the simplicity and clarity of celebrating our own most valuable asset…
...our lives. Neville

From: Neville Williams
Subject: WE ARE THE LEADER OF OURSELVES
Date: 20 January 2026 at 8:47:16 am AEDT
To: The Editor THE SYDNEY MORNING HERALD

Dear Editor,

WE ARE THE LEADER OF OURSELVES
We’ve developed a society where there is far too much pressure, focus and expectation on our leaders to be Supermen and Superwomen. (“Relentless campaign of criticism takes toll on PM” Herald letters Jan 20)
The real focus should be on us all accepting more personal responsibility for ourselves.
We are our own leader. The real leaders can only encourage us to accept that responsibility.
Gee, where did everyone go?
Regards,
Neville Williams
