Dear Editor,

MIRROR MIRROR ON THE WALL

Designs on a page don’t make a Nation.
(“Time for a flag that can unite” Letters February 2)
We can rabbit on as much as we like about colours, motifs or whatever else we’d like to see on a new Australian National flag.

I was immersed in symbols much of my working life. A symbol can reflect (mirror like) what we are or aspire to be but too often symbols end up being a fantasy with little foundation in truth.

When we’ve earned a new flag we’ll have a new flag that reflects a clarity of being.
Something that has a solid foundation.
Focus on the foundation and the symbol will surface naturally.

Perhaps it is timely we all looked into our own mirror? We’ll get a uniting flag when we’re united or truly want to be united within ourselves.

Regards, Neville Williams

Editor here’s my design for a new Australian Flag.(following)
Perhaps the Herald would like to get behind this?

FOOTNOTE:
Perhaps the universe is just saying that we're truly not ready for the sort of a change I've alluded to in these blogs? And with our present stalling/distracted behaviours may never be.
I wish I could be kinder but I can't. Sometimes the truth hurts.

I'm taking leave of writing these blogs for a while.

There are other creative matters such as completing an outstanding portrait of my late Mother and too getting the wheels turning on my planned retrospective exhibition titled "Sunshine!" before moving to New Zealand to live.

I've mirrored back to myself enough here in these blogs over time to now actually celebrate and honour my own life. Really, the world just isn't worth the effort.
(Here's a little gem of truth, it never is?)

Perhaps it is also time for all to get their own backyards sorted.

Bye for now. Neville

What a waste of time, energy and money
we human beings are becoming.
Because that is where we are placing our focus.

Whatever happened to valuing our own lives as being No. 1?
Our governance, corporate and community cultures
need a sweeping broom through them.

Our ego created selves always ends up failing in its game.
Nature though can too always be counted on to do its job
and correct the imbalance.
