WE’RE GOING TO SEE WHAT WE'RE REALLY MADE OF
[ SYDNEY TOWN HALL SQUARE ]

WHAT GIVES A CITY A HEART?
Just couldn’t help but feel that Federal politician Helen Haines was yet another victim of what might be labelled “The Jesus Syndrome”.
May I voice some of my observations/experience of life?
When distilled down to an essence the dark imposes to try extinguishing the light. Emptiness wants to fill itself anyway it can without earning that grace. Yet the light’s job is to shine and so fill and disappear the dark!
The light gives us hope but in its shining a shadow is cast from anything or anyone in its path. Huh?
For 26 years as a tour guide at the Sydney Opera House I never tired of telling the story of its Architect JΓΈrn Utzon and what it was that saw him separated from the opera house project.
He gave us a lesson in standards but that's not the way we saw it at the time.
Back when the house was under construction the larger spectrum of the populace just like sheep bleated the same unconscious line.
Broadly speaking it's the same story as Helen Haines.
In reality it is the same story of all of our lives told again and again.
The unending struggle of light vs dark.
In each of us there is both the light and the dark. During the course of our lives we make choices that take us closer to or farther away from the light. Some end up totally dark and others become angels on earth. Most seem to exist in some kind of mixed confusion (purgatory). The dark by its very nature confuses or distracts us from making clear decisions*.
And you’ve got to have the light to see your way through or around the dark.
Each exists with the other paradoxically so.
Our life in a human body is a gift that enables the next step which is about discovering the nature of ourselves (or so it seems to be). But that dark does the best it can to keep us lost or distracted. Every single thing that happens in our life either progresses or detracts/distracts from our story and better understanding, appreciating, loving or conversely coming to loathe our own existence.
Learning to love YOO is the foundational songline to all our lives. If we choose so.
The horrible pain that Helen Haines assailant must exist in can only be imagined.
His pain was projected onto her. It seems he couldn’t contain his suffering any longer. By all accounts of feedback by those who know her Helen Haines is a bright angel. But to repeat the darkness doesn't want the light to shine. Such a conundrum that Helen is now even a brighter shining angel today… i.e. in the world’s eyes. But a very sad situation all round.
Trying to fathom the reasoning does your head in... and that is by the dark's very design.
The message is live in the heart and not the head.
This whole scenario begs the question what has brought the perpetrator here to that darkness? That’s a big question. The challenge as I’ve said in these blogs over years now is to choose to celebrate the importance and value of our own life. That is no small challenge for us each to take on because there is so much obstructing our way. But this is all a very necessary course if we want to live in an inside world of true happiness. When more have discovered their own inner foundational peace then the outer world will reflect this as a natural flow on.
That requires us to be brave enough to look into our own mirror.
Humanity seems lost and fearfully so within ourselves at present. Those bad choices start to build up and seek an outlet. Or we accept the responsibility to do some real homework individually on the self.
Another of those potential node projects like the opera house is now under way here in Sydney. It looks like the "Town Hall Square" Project in the heart of the City is going to provide the opportunity to show ourselves what we are made of once more.
The light will ultimately prevail as it always does.
I mean in the long run Utzon shone through all of the dross.
What an inner strength he must have had.
And that project itself?... Well, look at the house now.
I had completed here a long winded commentary supporting this Town Hall Square project but ultimately deleted my carry on... Perhaps there are better ways to contribute? Not sure though how particularly when running on empty. Perhaps by keeping out of the way. Ha!
The end result of this undertaking like so much that has come before will ultimately be a mirror to our collective contribution or lack thereof.
It's getting to a point where we in this world can no longer hide behind excuses or blame the other. Perhaps that is why it appears more than some are losing it. Facing ourselves must be the hardest work possible.
So what gives a city its Heart?
One answer might be more individuals who know and understand themselves better.
Shine on Helen. At times our light may be diminished by uncontrollable storms but what is important is to protect your lit candle. - Neville Williams
* Or perhaps to take a different view it might be that the dark is there to irritate us to look towards the light? I dunno?
Isn't that a choice too? You've got to look though to find something.
While we're busy searching on the outside it is all happening on the inside. - N.
"Everything's alright, yes, everything's fine."
- Lyrics from the song "Everything's alright"
from the rock opera "Jesus Christ Superstar" (1971)
Song by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber
