- WHERE’S SNAKE PLISSKEN WHEN YOU NEED HIM?
free
“Real freedom is being free to do the things you don’t want to do
and still enjoy doing them.” - ROBERT WRIGHT
Freedom doesn’t come freely. It has to be worked for.
That’s not something new.
Though in this post Covid world you’d want to wonder.
Have we been lulled into thinking (particularly in the West) that we are due what we expect? I’m seeing and hearing of examples where people are just “spitting the dummy” because they are not getting what they want.
Not very edifying. Certainly not civil.
Of all places Washington DC the capital of America is so lawless that they are bringing in the National Guard and the policing is being taken over by the Feds.
Won’t be long before we see Snake Plissken ride again in his third outing on the silver screen
...“Escape from Washington DC”.
And the behaviours I’m alluding to in Washington aren’t only from the fringes of society it’s evident from the rank and file if not in obvious expression across the planet.
Seems that if you take away our lolly (or we find ourselves paying more for our lolly)
we scream the house down.
Gawd where did people leave their spine and scruples?
I’ll suggest that we’re all contributing to this mess if in differing degrees.
It’s called FOMO - Fear of Missing Out.
Is it that our own separation from ourselves is creating the vacuum of unease within the populace? These times are certainly affecting productivity, creativity, hope, happiness, connectivity and general well being.
Seems to be a breaking down time. And there are plenty of walls that need to come down.
It is also then too an opportune time for new creative ways to emerge?
Sure hard times are testing. It’d be nice to think though that we could rise above the mediocrity and push our way through it all to create something better. But then I’m an idealistic artist and I too have to face the fact that I’m not going to get what I want either.
i.e. a perfectly happy world where everyone walks around in bliss.
Thank goodness though that some of us are dreamers.
But then we do so also need many more who have the ability to make dreams reality.
It takes all shades of the rainbow to make the world turn in a state of wellness.
Watch things change overnight when our leaders find the courage to say...
“Ultimately YOU are responsible for your’s and our own collective future”.
I’d love to hear our leaders speak the truth that 'it is up to all of us'. I was gob smacked to hear someone express that they actually thought our leaders alone would change things…and to expect it…Oh come on that really is living in fairyland.
This is what some with a blinkered view are saying… “Doh, they get paid to do it. It’s their job not mine.” I’ve actually heard someone say that. That is what could be called ‘colonial convict thinking’. Shouldn't we have outgrown that mentality?
The real leaders job as I see it is to convince us that it is our job to make a better future. Leaders can’t do anything lasting without people behind them. It’s not a one way street.
The street of responsibility is two way. We are all the leaders of our better future.
We want everything to be the way we want it to be. Particularly at a time like now when there are all sorts of pressures and challenges and changing information being bombarded on us continuously. It does become overbearing.
Have we had it so relatively well for so long that we now expect our nappies to be changed and our milk bottles to be just the right temperature? My artist’s flights of fancy make me express that we are better than that… but what is the R-E-A-L-I-T-Y?
You want your freedom? Don't bother looking for Snake Plissken to do your dirty work.
Time we cleaned up our own messy backyards. - Neville ☺︎
