Dear Editor,

GET WITH IT ... THIS IS THE BRAVE NEW WORLD

The seriousness of your article (“Pentagon’s warning to PM” The Australian 9-10 Aug.) made me laugh out loud.

Fear really is running the show in our world today.

The Americans who are now looking increasingly like a pack of buffoons need to have a good look into their own very dirty mirror. They themselves have started a world shake up seeking more independence from other nations yet still want to run the show. Anthony Albanese is right to chart our own course through a world falling into decline.

All those billions of encouraged defence spending dollars is making someone rich at the expense of an increasingly insane world.

Chinese capability with or without our increased defence spending can squash us like a mosquito.
No doubt the technology exists already to take out those shiny submarines the defence boys so cherish in seconds. All that money and loved lives gone in seconds. Pffft!

America coming to our defence? Guffaw guffaw guffaw. All they are interested in today is themselves. The evidence is there by the truckload. This is Capitalism run its course now spluttering out of energy by its own selfish demands.

It’s time we all grew up. Rather than gear ourselves for self destruction we should consciously spend a good slice of that proposed defence spending here in Australia on consciously planned peace projects. An example of such an endeavour would be a world expo hosted in Sydney. The theme appropriately might be “Reconnection firstly to ourselves, to each other and to our greater world environment”.

But I seriously question if we have enough of the right stuff to do it…well and good.

We humans are currently displaying the grossest behaviours of disconnection.

This is the new age fellas get with it.
Consciously planned peace projects are now on the table.

If we’re looking to increase productivity we need creativity not the framework of self destruction.

Let hope not fear run the show for once in our lives.
