Pierrot has good reason to be sad
Some seem to have a death wish.
They can’t see what they are doing to themselves.
They have actually blindsided themselves into believing that they are going great guns but somewhere along the line they changed for the worse.
I have been the customer of an organisation now for around 30 years and this organisation has morphed from being a customer orientated group into being a gung ho sales driven company.
They lost their corporate soul.
Here’s an artist’s prediction. They won’t be round in 10 years time.
When you lose sight of the very reason your doing something then it all becomes self defeating.
I’m big on the importance of the corporate soul having worked in the area of Corporate Identity for a good slice of my working career. I loved the field. It’s about understanding what makes organisations tick, why they behave the way they do and how they reflect this in their many visual manifestations. The same principles of corporate identity apply to Governments, Nations, any group or even individuals.
So this poor old company has forgotten why it even exists. In fact you can feel their hesitation when you actually want them to do something for you. And don’t try their messaging service. It’s straight out of George Orwell’s ‘1984’. I mean AI? Why do we want to speak to a machine pretending to be a person? Or is it a person who has become a machine on the other end of the line? Watch what you say. The system will turn it into double speak.
Why do humans try to play God? We’re treading on nature’s toes presently. (Talking about playing God, just as an aside what about the mess some ‘IVF’ Clinics are creating. Aren’t there plenty of unloved kids out there already that might be adopted?)
But back to my Corporate ‘friends’. I’m figuring there’s no sales commissions in actually helping the customer. Customer service is not even a secondary thing any more. And the problem is larger than one company. I’ll go as far as suggesting that too muchie of Western Civilisation is infected with this bug. It’s the bug of “if there’s nothing in it for me then bugger ’em”. There you go let’s call it the “Bugger ’em bug”. A very deadly bug that one.
Did you catch any of the liaison between China, India, Russia, Iran and North Korea paraded across our television screens this last week. It’s no saving grace for the West that in their narrow focussed headspace the East is just as mixed up if not more so than the Capitalist driven two dimensional* Western mindset. In short humanity is in a trough presently.
We talk about “them” and “us”. The problem is simply “US”.
You’d think it’d be time for us all to do something about this.
That is if we want to be around in ten years time.
Some are trying and some are very trying.
Some just want to mind everyone else's business when the focus should be each on ourselves to get our own backyard in order. Greek philosopher Socrates didn’t say know everyone else he said “Know thyself”.
The only reason I stay with the said company is because to change means a complete overhaul of my communications which is a time and energy demanding undertaking at a very critical state of things. The “Bugger ’em bug” mindset knows this.
But this company lost me some years back now and I’ll be disconnecting from their “disconnection” within the coming twelve months. These things have to be planned.
One day people will wake up and find they have no job to go to and they'll wonder what happened…It'll be all of their own making. And pleading ignorance as to what has gone on will not cut it. - Neville
TIME FOR SOME HOMEWORK
From: NEVILLE WILLIAMSSubject: WE HAVE MORE TO CELEBRATE THAN FEARDate: 6 September 2025 at 12:00:25 pm AESTTo: The Editor THE SYDNEY MORNING HERALDDear Editor,WE HAVE MORE TO CELEBRATE THAN FEARIn everything that Peter Hartcher wrote about you can smell human fear of the other. (“Australia’s in danger of fraying” Herald Opinion Sept. 6)O come on! Rising above all of the human ignorance, fear and anger and loving human beings is surely becoming one helluva challenge for us all. Truth is though, and here’s the twist, we’re actually scared stiff of our own shadow. That is our own increasing disconnection from ourselves. The negatives feed off themselves. That’s what’s scaring the wits out of our world citizens.Noel Pearson says and Peter Hartcher re-iterates “the vision splendid for our nation…is in three parts. There is the ancient heritage….then British inheritance and multicultural achievement”.We should then be consciously re-inforcing and celebrating ourselves. The bigger the party the better. We are a wonderful achievement Australia. We should too be sharing our success by inviting the world including China, Russia, North Korea and yes even America to participate in our success.Success in life is about believing in ourselves. We have more to celebrate than fear.Kind regards, Neville Williams
