Dear Editor,

A RIGHT ROYAL MESS: STOP AND LOOK BEFORE LEAPING

A person can wonder if the shake up our world is going through presently is well overdue.
("Excuses and patience are wearing thinner as Andrew dodges eviction” The Sun Herald, 26 October)

I mean where do you start?

The whole hurricane swirling around Prince Andrew, Royalty and the reflected societal state of being is just such an apt example in every way of bad choices or lack of personal responsibility taken to the ultimate. Our world now has everything under a magnifying glass of judgement to a most horrible degree. We are being made to face truths about ourselves that are totally unpalatable.

When are we going to take responsibility for ourselves? And that applies in every thought, action and deed no matter whether Royalty or at any other level of our society ranging from the institutional through to the individual. Every rung on the ladder.

A colleague (now passed on) once willingly shared that “your dick can get you into a hell of a lot of trouble”
He most certainly knew what he was talking about. And none of us are innocent of bad choices.

It can all start out so innocently and in certain cases with fun and frivolity.
Reality though in a fractured world is that our bad choices have a way of coming home to bite us on the behind.

There are too many people living lives that they don't want to participate in. Seems that Andrew is a high profile example.
If you find you are living a lie then have the courage to get out of it. To his credit Harry did.
You are saving yourself and others a helluva lot of pain and suffering in the long run.

Foresight is a most wonderful thing.
More long range viewing of matters needs to be educated into us.
We are living in the most fragile of times where ever more so we need to stop and reflect soundly before sowing wild oats.

Too many people are totally confused. We need more clarity.

Kind regards, Neville Williams

Dear Editor,

TRUMP TODAY GONE TOMORROW

Andrew Scott (Herald Letters Oct. 28) invites writing about “why an American society chooses the disease over the cure, falling for his (Trump) Mephistopheles rants”.

Is it that human nature chooses the devil we know over finding the courage to face our own demons and embrace our better selves? In short we want life to be easy. We want someone else to solve our own problems for us. And to say the least in reality the gift of a life is all a challenge involving hard work on the self.

History dictates that these “pseudo saviours” only rise to fall taking a whole lot with them.

It seems we are witnessing, even participating in, a clearing of the decks for a new age.

All good if you are one of the lucky or graced ones to survive the storm of change.

Americans will come to accept that there is no easy way. Unusual for all of their own chest beating entitlement they will find ultimately some redemption in the quality of humility. Let’s hope.

But it will be a far different world.
It is our own individual choices that determine our collective future.

Kind Regards, Neville Williams
