NO HALF SUCCESSFUL LIFE

FOR WARREN BUFFETT

An interesting article recently in the Sydney Morning Herald was talking about

Warren Buffett the American Entrepreneur and Philanthropist who is stepping down as CEO of Berkshire Hathaway at the end of this year.

Some people just stand out as having successful lives in an wholistic sense

and Warren Buffett is one of them. Balanced is a word that applies to him.

As a business man he certain looks as though he has balanced the books of his life.

He’s given as good as he’s taken from this world…if not more.

Wouldn’t it be a better world if we all had this aspiration in our lives rather than become the honed taking machines that Capitalism seems to punch out with cookie cutter default precision?

Personally I neither take a lot nor give a lot.

And I find that a little sad.

I’d like to be an enthusiastic giver but it isn’t the case presently and hasn’t been over the years of my life. That’s just the truth of it.

Having said that I was so chuffed about two years ago when I did enthusiastically want to give five of my really decent artworks to people who I consider deserved them. I truly did get so much pleasure from selecting, wrapping each artwork, contacting each person and then delivering the items. I had no ulterior motives in giving the items. NONE. ZIP, NADA, NIL, NOUGHT.

And I know that I was the one who received the gift. That’s a certain freedom and some joy.

I felt so good about doing it. This experience I saw as the taste of a gift from beyond me.

It was just a wonderful feeling. I was actually “living” my life.

That is missing in all of the action of this information overloaded and mind driven world. There’s so little heart in it. We don’t even know what that means anymore we are so “disconnected” from our own deeper selves. Too much fear is running our show now.

Which brings us to the expert takers. There are those amongst us who can make it look like they are giving when in reality they are magicians who can make taking an art form.

In reality they are “rotten” to the core. Nice people they ain’t.

But they’ve got to live with their half baked lives. All their own choice too!

A good slice of corporates and business people fall into this mould. Being illusionists though is not unique to the corporate sector. Mainstream life is also too occupied by those who go out of their way to take as much as they can get away with without any conscience of balancing the return.

If people find themselves lost in the wilderness of the desert of these times then perhaps that is life’s way of giving us an understanding of the importance of just what we are missing out on? Most surely a painful lesson.

The give and take of life is a subject that nature in our time seems to have not only put on the table but placed on the top of the pile of those things that need attention by us all.

In that Herald article Warren Buffett laments the corporate greed that is now so prevalent.

But if you don’t have it to give well then you can’t give it can you?

And I’m not talking about the money. I’m talking about the quality of what’s happening inside people.

If there isn’t the solidity, the kindness and the humane nature - THE LIGHT to want to give then clearly what’s the point? To give it when you don’t have it is living a lie. Nothing solid there. And we wonder why our world is crumbling? The Scrooges of this world might as well keep their money. It won’t make them happy. Not in the deepest sense of the word happy. Happiness is not an attribute of matter. (And the money hungry do so dislike to hear those words.)

The corporates shouldn’t expect to be able to experience all that a life has to offer if they are not prepared to genuinely participate by actually giving of themselves. To state the obvious that means making a contribution. Doh!

Warren Buffett is a man who was not content to live a half successful life.

He is living the fullest life possible “100% Success”.

Congratulations on living your well lived life Mr. Buffett.

How do yoo do it? It’s got to be more than luck or even talent.

I feel it all has something to do with knowing your own basically decent heart.

Thank you for your contribution to our world and ultimately your own life.

What a wonderful man yoo are. Neville
